A sculptural vase inspired by bulbs, vegetables and pods.
Height: approx 34cm
This vase is burnished before being fired using the naked raku process. Feathers and other combustibles are placed across the surface during the firing, creating delicate, organic markings and patterns. The final finish is shaped by the interaction between the clay, smoke and firing environment, making every piece unique.
This is a decorative vessel designed to be enjoyed as a sculptural object in its own right. Due to the nature of the naked raku process, it is not watertight and should not be used to hold water. It is also not food safe.
Each Bulb Vase is handmade by me in my studio, so slight variations in shape, surface and colour are part of what makes each one unique.
